POSTPARTUM DOULA CARE

Postpartum doula support tends to looks a little different for every family I support, but the common thread is that I'm focused on meeting your physical and emotional needs as you heal and bond with your baby.

Postpartum visits may include:

  • A listening ear and open heart to process your birth experience, share your worries, and ask questions

  • Cleaning, laundry, meal prep or other hands-on duties to maintain your home and daily rhythms

  • Run errands

  • Teach your partner or other family support techniques

  • Playing and engaging with your older child(ren)

  • Answering "is this normal?" questions about your healing or your baby

  • Supporting you in feeding, bathing, and diapering your baby

  • Connecting you with other community resources or professionals as needed

What Does Care Look Like?

When I arrive at your house I take off my shoes, put on my house slippers, and wash my hands. I'll ask how you slept last night and what you want most that day (nap, shower, food, other?).

We'll spend a few minutes catching up and then I'll get to work making some food for you. Or I'll watch over the baby and put away the dishes while you shower or sleep. I love to hear about how feeding is going with you and your baby. I can offer suggestions for better positioning and comfort. I can help you diaper, bathe, and dress your baby. I'm an expert in normal baby behavior and I am here to reassure you that you are doing great! If anything seems abnormal with you or baby, I'll help you find the expert care you need.

After the first visit I'll know my way around your house and I can dive right into chores and routines. As our time together goes on, I focus most of my efforts on caring for the new parents while they focus on baby care. By the end of our time together, you will feel confident in your skills and knowledge and ready to manage daily life with a baby.

Doula Support Pricing

I believe that everyone who wants a doula should have one. Because of this, I offer a self-reported sliding-scale payment system for all clients. I offer three separate payment tiers to choose from, but service is the exact same no matter what price point you choose. I do not ask for reasons or proof of your chosen payment level, but I do ask that you reflect on your personal financial privilege and level.
